Stephen F. Johnson
Director, President of American Clean Coal Fuels

Mr. Johnson has been an outspoken
proponent of the environmentally responsible development of
a domestic synthetic fuels industry. Prior to his
co-founding of ACCF, through Stonebridge Asset Management,
the hedge fund company he owned and operated, Mr. Johnson
acted for a time as the only financial analyst publicly
covering domestic US FT technology and the early stages of
development of a domestic US Coal To Liquids industry.
Using his own unique investment philosophy, his hedge fund
achieved excellent returns, his strategy yielding a return
of 327.84% net of fees between the start of 2002 and the end of 2006 (5 years), or 33.73% annualized,
dramatically out-performing the market averages, and all
applicable benchmark indexes.
Applying the industry knowledge and contacts acquired
through his investment research, he then went on to
spearhead the development of American Clean Coal Fuels,
growing it from bare concept to become one of the country's
leading synthetic fuels project development companies.
He possesses a strong knowledge of a diverse array of fields
including finance, oil and energy markets, gasification and
Fischer Tropsch process technologies, general alternative
fuels processes and technologies.
Mr. Johnson was homeschooled, and began taking college
courses at age 14. His initial focus was on computers, but
it shifted to business and finance on the beginning of his
study of the stock market. He graduated from Portland State
University where he earned a Bachelors of Science in
Business Administration: Finance at age 20, the university's
youngest graduating student that term.
In addition to his focus within the synthetic fuels space,
Mr. Johnson has strong interests in the area of sustainability,
having been involved early in the grassroots community effort
Portland Peak Oil Awareness, which resulted in the Portland City
Council appointing a peak oil taskforce and study group to aid
and inform local and regional planning. That task force's work
succeeded in motivating the city council to adopt a resolution
to cut the Portland metro area's oil consumption dramatically.
Mr. Johnson has also assisted in capital raising and led buy-side
Due Diligence efforts in the early financing rounds for Lightfleet,
a Camas Washington based company developing optical interconnect
technologies for dense computer server environments, leading
to major efficiency gains and reduction of power use in computer server farms.
